Rough Guide to Bali

Penjor "Hey I am coming to Bali, can you recommend me things to do?" I got that question a lot. I get it, I live in Bali so people would think that I master everything about Bali. Well... 50:50. I happened to travel around Bali since 2017. So it wasn't wrong to assume me knowing Bali. But I am also a lazy traveler so I don't always do many things in one place.  That is why we will call this a rough guide to Bali.  First thing first, define your style of traveling. Because we all know that Bali is an island. Not a city. So it is quite big, you know. You can not explore all of it in two weeks. Well you might be able to do so, but probably not immersing enough of it.  So... what is your style of traveling? Bali offers you some cultures, quiet normal life, party hotspots, quiet beaches, busy beaches, temples, and so on.  Mt Batur West part of Bali (Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta) If you enjoy partying, you might want to spend your time more in the west part of Bali like Canggu, ...

Death used to be so far away from my family

I am turning 30 soon. I was excited that "Woah! My 30's gonna be something! I am excited." But I also forgot that it means we're getting older. My parents, uncles, aunties, everyone I have in my life. I still see them like a child seeing her important adults in her life. I always thought that I am 5 and they're in their 30's. Not realising that they're entering their 50's.

My uncle passed away this morning. I am feeling closer to uncles from my mom side than from my dad's. Even though we were closed when I was a kid and we became like a stranger lately, but I have my own place for him in my heart. I thought, I wouldn't cry. I was wrong. I sat down when I made breakfast this morning and I cried. It is breaking my heart. How could he left me like that? It's unfair for him. 

I called my cousin after his funeral. First thing she said was “I dont have a father anymore” 😔 Breaks my heart even more.

Not only him, my aunties and uncle from my father side too. They're leaving one by one. They were my closest people too. I lost too many in two years. It breaks my heart. 

I am afraid, I told my friend this morning. Remember that our time here is temporary and every day matters, he said. I guess he's right. 

Omoni, that's how I used to call you instead of Om Roni. You were such a beautiful soul. Thank you for breaking my arm back then when I was just 4. Now you're breaking my heart 💔.  Enjoy your next journey. Would you please say hi to mami and papi there? Tell them I miss them so much. You'll be missed 💙

[Piknik] Prambanan lagi

Salah satu pesona Jawa Tengah adalah Candi Prambanan. Saya sudah 3 kali berkunjung ke situs warisan dunia ini. Candi yang terletak di perbatasan Jawa Tengah dan jogja ini selalu menimbulkan kesan mistis bagi saya. Terletak tak jauh dari jalan raya, sehingga mengunjunginya pun sangat mudah. Berbeda dengan Candi Borobudur yang letaknya sangat jauh dari jalan raya besar.  Ok, menurut saya ada 3 cara menuju candi ini. Menggunakan bus transjogja, taksi, dan kendaraan pribadi. Bagi yang menggunakan transjogja, saya pernah menggunakannya berangkat dari daerah kampus UNY, daerah Depok Sleman. 1 kali transit, 2 kali berganti bus. Dengan harga transjogja yang kala itu, 2014, seharga 3500 rupiah. Tapi sampai saat ini masih sama harganya, menurut info dari teman. Lokasi shelter bis berada agak jauh dari pintu masuk lokasi candi, mungkin kira-kira 500meter sampai 1kilometer. Kalau jalan, menghabiskan waktu sekitar 15-20menit. Bisa juga naik becak untuk opsi yang lain. Lagi-lagi, jangan lupa...

Pakai Debit Jenius di Luar Negeri

Amsterdam Central Station  Ini pertama kalinya pakai debit Jenius di luar negeri. Pemakaian ini menggunakan sumber dana EUR yang ada di aplikasi. Jadi uang yang keluar adalah uang EUR, bukan IDR.  Untuk buka rekening valas di Jenius, tinggal ditambahkan saja bagian buka akun valas lalu pilih kurs yang diinginkan. Di kasus ini gw punya rekening EUR di Jenius yang ditujukan untuk transaksi di Eropa.  Karena kemarin lagi di Belanda, akhirnya pengen coba pakai debit card Jenius karena EDC di Belanda belum tentu bisa untuk kartu kredit saja. Sebelum digunakan tentunya jangan lupa untuk menyambungkan kartu debit ke rekening mata uang asingnya biar sumber pengeluaran juga langsung dari tabungan valas itu. Tinggal klik klik aja kok. Tibalah saatnya menggunakan mata uang EUR yang sudah kubeli dari Jenius. Waktu itu gw pakainya di Schipol, di dua toko berbeda, dan keduanya nggak bisa tap langsung. Jadi harus insert kartu, tentu bukan masalah.  Karena terbiasa dengan transaksi...
