Rough Guide to Bali

Penjor "Hey I am coming to Bali, can you recommend me things to do?" I got that question a lot. I get it, I live in Bali so people would think that I master everything about Bali. Well... 50:50. I happened to travel around Bali since 2017. So it wasn't wrong to assume me knowing Bali. But I am also a lazy traveler so I don't always do many things in one place.  That is why we will call this a rough guide to Bali.  First thing first, define your style of traveling. Because we all know that Bali is an island. Not a city. So it is quite big, you know. You can not explore all of it in two weeks. Well you might be able to do so, but probably not immersing enough of it.  So... what is your style of traveling? Bali offers you some cultures, quiet normal life, party hotspots, quiet beaches, busy beaches, temples, and so on.  Mt Batur West part of Bali (Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta) If you enjoy partying, you might want to spend your time more in the west part of Bali like Canggu, ...

Diving in Nusa Penida

Apart from having a seasickness, diving in Nusa Penida was cool. We saw big big mantas, big turtles, some babies manta, the coral was pretty colorful too. Alive I'd say.

Our first dive was in Manta Point. As you can see from the name, we planned on seeing some manta which luckily we did. It was amazing to see big mantas. I saw, at least 5 big ones. Then babies were cuddling and having a nap in same spot. That was cute to see. We also see some turtles, the big one.

The thing is, it has almost-no current, but surge. The surge was pretty big for me as a beginner. Which was actually kinda cool. I swam a little then pushed back by the surge, then pushed forward flowing with the surge. Personally, I chose surge more than current hahaha! My experiences with current, was not cool. I dislike to fight it but at the same time I had to let go myself being dragged with the current until god knows where 😂

While with surge, I can also see the creatures down there flowing happily following the surge. That was kinda cool.

The manta that flipping around in front of your eyes, is the best thing ever. Such a showing off.

I like diving in Nusa Penida, I just dont like to be on a boat around Nusa Penida. That surge down there, was the main reason why I threw up on a boat. Yes I took the pill of anti seasickness as much as I can, I drink ginger kinda thing to, but nope, they worked only for an hour. I took another one, then threw it up after 10 mins. In the water you'll feel fine, but in the surface... damn!

We did 3 dives, well I did only 2 dives then one snorkeling to avoid being on a boat for too long (with headache I got after the second dive). But imagined being on a boat for at least 3 hours of surface after each dive. Yes that is the thing you should think about when you go diving in Nusa Penida.

Btw I didn't see my favorite stonefish but my husband did. It was something he saw on his third dive (which I went for snorkeling instead).

"Look at one fixed point far there"

Hmmm excuse me sir, do you think I didn't do that the whole trip here? I DID but 😩😭 Still throwing up. At least now, there's no one in the water where I threw up. Unlike the first one, 4 years ago.

I was hungry the whole trip, but I can't even move. Once I move, it can trigger my stomach to throw up again. But once we reach the land, they asked me "Are you okay now?" I answered with a big smile, "I am feeling wonderful now am touching the land!"

So I am rethinking about becoming a divemaster or a dive instructor. I'll teach on a land. I do better on a land.

Was the diving worth it? YES. Would I do it again in Nusa Penida? Hmm maybe not if I have to be on a boat for too long. I give up.

Jumat ceria

Hari ini memang bukan hari jumat, tapi cuman mau bilang aja sih kalo hari yang paling aku tunggu-tunggu itu hari jumat. Why?

Fire in the Building

Who would have thought that I  experienced fire in the building.  This is my first time living in an appartement. Of course I never chose appartement when living in Indonesia because it’s a real high risk when the earthquake happen. But here we are placed in an appartement. What got me relieved the first time that we are in the lowest floor so if something happen we will be quickly evacuated.  That’s what I thought.  Until it really happened.  We slept around midnight and abruptly woken up by the noise outside. I thought it was the drunk people just got back from night club or the restaurant next door was doing some deep cleaning. So loud that I had to wake up. My husband peeked outside and immediately said “fire brigade outside, you wait here!” I was just “am I dreaming or what?” I put on clothes, checked outside and saw a few of fire trucks. I checked the other side of the appartement and saw a few of police cars and ambulances.  “Oh no, something serious...
